“Don’t Wait to Live, Do it Now.”

For the longest time I have been postponing happiness and fulfillment to some achievements or later stages in life. When I was in Primary School I looked forward to joining High School and eventually the day came when I did join High School but soon enough I was already wondering when I would be at the University?! Several years later, I joined and completed University and then started the job hunt. I found my first job but the initial excitement gradually shifted to a search for better opportunities. I think you get the point.

I’m constantly thinking; when I meet the woman who becomes my wife, when I’m making so much or when I am able to buy this or afford that then I will be “living”. I have been postponing “living” to some achievement or event in life. But it has dawned on me that life is now, in my present state and situation, I’m actually living! I’m getting older, time is going by and some of those things I’m waiting on will take a lot longer than I had anticipated.

Does that mean I should give up my dreams and just resign to my present circumstances? Certainly not! I believe we should continue to strive towards the hopes and dreams God has placed in our hearts. I believe achieving dreams brings a deep sense of fulfilment and joy yet we shouldn’t be unhappy or feel less fulfilled because we haven’t yet realised those dreams. So let’s all take full advantage of where we are and start to live in the now.
